Booking, Prices & Availability
You don’t have to, but we strongly recommend booking in advance, especially during high season (June, July, August) and/or school holidays. Walk-in hires are available but cannot be guaranteed.
Our season usually runs from early March to the end of October. Exact dates vary each year.
Our standard hire period is from 9.00am to 5.30pm for single day hires. Multi-day hires are available.
Carts are collected between 9.00am and 10.30am and are to be returned by 5:30pm on the last day of hire.
No. The minimum hire period is one full day. Even short use requires a full-day charge, as carts must be recharged between hires. No refunds are given for early returns.
Yes. Multi-day hire is available and multi-day rates are available for 3 consecutive days or more.
No, we do not require a deposit.
Please note that if a reserved cart is not collected by 10.30am (unless pre-arranged or if you haven’t contacted us), it may be released to another customer.
Payment is made at the time of collection. We accept card payments only.
Prices are listed on our Hire a cart page. Please note that 2026 prices will be confirmed in March once we’ve received our insurance quote.
Insurance, Responsibility & Refunds
Yes. Hire includes third-party insurance for all named drivers.
Insurance covers third-party liability only.
Any damage to the cart itself is the responsibility of the primary driver.
No. We do not offer refunds for early returns.
We reserve the right to cancel or refuse a booking if eligibility requirements are not met or a driver appears unfit to drive.
We understand life comes in the way sometimes. Please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your booking so we can maximise our chances of re-booking the cart.
Drivers & Licences
Yes. All drivers must hold a full UK driving licence that has been held for at least one year. Please bring your licence with you on the day of collection as we will be double checking validity.
Yes, as long as it is valid. Please bring it with you on the day of collection as we will be double checking validity.
Drivers must be aged between 21 and 80 years old. Our insurance doesn’t cover drivers outside this range.
Yes. You can have one primary driver and up to four additional named drivers, provided they meet the requirements.
The primary hirer is responsible for the cart and all named drivers.
Passengers, Children & Dogs
2-seater: maximum 2 passengers
4-seater: maximum 4 passengers
6-seater: maximum 6 passengers
Passenger numbers must not exceed the insured capacity.
No. A 2-seater cart is insured for two people only, regardless of age.
Yes. We have baby seats and booster seats available.
Please request these at the time of booking.
No, there is no upper age limit for passengers.
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Dogs must be restrained so they do not interfere with the driver or pedals, in line with the Highway Code.
Using the Cart
Yes. They have just two pedals (go and stop). Please note they are left-hand drive.

Carts may only be driven on tarmac roads on St Mary’s.
They must not be driven:
On beaches
On footpaths or bridal paths
On the Quay
On farmland or private ground
On tracks or unmade roads
All carts are GPS-tracked.
Yes. The carts are fitted with lights to ensure visibility.
Yes, as long as it is parked legally and considerately.
Batteries, Charging & Overnight Use
Approximately 20–25 miles, which is plenty for a full day on St Mary’s.
In the unlikely event this happens, contact us and we’ll come to you.
All carts are GPS-tracked.
A full charge takes 4–5 hours.
Only if you are hiring for consecutive days and have:
Off-road overnight parking
The ability to safely charge the cart overnight
Charging cables must never cross a public footpath or pavement.
If this isn’t possible, the cart must be returned to us each evening.
Breakdowns, Damage & Charges
Call us and we’ll come out to you.
Please contact us immediately.
Any damage to the cart is the responsibility of the primary hirer.
A £25 call-out charge may apply where issues are caused by misuse (for example driving off permitted roads or running the battery flat).
A replacement key will be charged at £5.
The hirer is responsible for any fines or penalties incurred during the hire period.
A £25 administration fee applies.

Yes, we are open on Sundays during the season.
No. Our carts are for use on St Mary’s only.
